Riccardo at Corte Compana is trying for sainthood. My friend Jeff went to Rome and was to meet me in Venice. He arrived after 10;30 pm and then got lost in the alleys off of Saint Mark's. He only had Riccardo's cell #. I had given up on Jeff when there is a knock on the door. It was Riccardo saying "here is your friend!" He would not take a single euro even though he had gone out and found Jeff in the bitter cold. This guy enjoys people and isn't just in this for the money.

My friends and I just got back from back-packing through Italy. We stayed in an awesome B&B just behind St. Mark's Square in Venice. It was nice, clean, and had an great location. Ricardo was also really helpful! I really recommend it! There are more details in the 2005 book.

Riccardo was wonderful! He didn’t have availability at Corte Campana B&B, so he set us up in his friend’s beautiful B&B called Ca’ Formosa for the same price. Riccardo met us in Piazza San Marco and walked us to the B&B. The location was perfect, a short walk from Piazza San Marco, but on a quiet canal for a good nights sleep. Air conditioning and a wonderful breakfast. Trust friendly Riccardo to set you up in an amazing place.

Riccardo was most helpful and when we arrived (and saw that my husband had a cane) he gave us the key to his newly acquired apartment on the ground floor which was right across from the B&B. This was a very spacious apartment with 3 very large rooms. The bedroom sleeps at least 3 and room for another bed (if an extra bed is required). The kitchen was very large with everything you would need to be self sufficient. The bathroom was a good size with a very nice shower. Riccardo showed us how to use the Italian coffee maker. He has all the information you would need regarding restaurants, etc. I would be sure and book ahead to be able to get this roomy apartment. Go to Venice and enjoy your stay with the best host Riccardo.

My family (5 members) and I stayed at the Corte Campana B&B run by Riccardo. We had a great time in Venice due to Riccardo. He was very helpful even before we got to Venice. He gave us information on how to get to his place, where to get tickets for museums, and an excellent selection of a restaurant. The owner of the restaurant gave us special attention when he found out that we staying at the Corte Campana. The location of the B&B is excellent being near the St. Mark's Square, the Basilica, the Doge's Palace, and the Rialto Bridge.Riccardo was helpful in arranging water taxi transportation to the airport to get to our 6:25 am flight. He did a special favor for me. I forgot a set of prints in his B&B that I bought in Italy and he sent them to me by mail. The only problem we had was that we could'nt stay longer. Thank you Riccardo.

We called from Rome and made reservation with Riccardo. He made sure to be there and met us personally when we arrived. We stayed three days and thought it was a great base from which to see Venice. Arrived by vaporetto (water bus). Very easy to find. Riccardo went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable, but he went well beyond what we expectd when my wife had a medical emergency our first evening. Riccardo personally took us to the emergency room at the hospital, stayed with us, translated for us with the doctor, then helped us find a pharmacy and get a prescription filled. It was special treat to stay in a 600-year old former home of royalty near the Doge's palace. We would go back in a minute and we heartily recommend Riccardo as the perfect host. He steered us to great places to eat and helped us make the best use of our limited time in Venice. Thank you Riccardo!!!

Hotel Corte Campana The Hotel Corte Campana was wonderful. Even if the location wasn't great or the rooms enormous and clean, it would be worth the euros just to meet Riccardo. This guy is about 5 feet tall and full of fun. He told us about the city and about the history of his building. He directed us to authentic Venetian dining, and most importantly, the best gelato in Venice. He was great and you can be sure that any time I'm in Venice, I'll be found at the Hotel Corte Campana, chillin' with Riccardo, my man. Thanks, Riccardo, for making it a wonderful experience. And the rest of you, stay with him when you go!
